Overview

I specialize in making complex systems understandable. This includes REST APIs consumed by developers who live and breathe software or software workflows used by people who do not want to think about the tools they use.

Over my 15+ year career I've built documentation from scratch, designed the processes teams use to request and maintain it, and developed maturity models that help organizations treat documentation as a product rather than an afterthought.

Experience

My broad experience includes:

  • Technical Writing/Editing:

    Producing accurate, audience-appropriate documentation across the full spectrum, from API references and SDK guides to user manuals, training materials, and context-sensitive help, for both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Docs-as-Code:

    Designing and implementing Docs-as-Code pipelines that treat documentation like software: version-controlled, peer-reviewed, and continuously deployed alongside the products they support.

  • Generative AI:

    Leveraging generative AI tools to accelerate documentation workflows, automate repetitive authoring tasks, and maintain consistency across large content repositories without sacrificing accuracy or voice.

  • Interviewing SMEs:

    Extracting clear, accurate information from engineers, developers, and product owners, then translating deeply technical knowledge into documentation that non-technical readers can act on.

  • Researching Information:

    Going beyond SME interviews to validate documentation against source code, product specs, and real-world user behavior, ensuring content is not just readable, but correct.

  • Implementing Style Guides:

    Applying and enforcing Chicago Manual of Style, AP Stylebook, and Microsoft Writing Style Guide to ensure consistency, professionalism, and clarity across all documentation deliverables.

  • Implementing Processes:

    Building documentation request workflows, review cycles, and maturity models that help organizations scale their documentation practice and treat content as a long-term asset, not an afterthought.
